Traditional & Self-Publishing

This month’s meeting (April 16) features Craig Schenning, owner of Old Line Publishing and Maple Creek Media. Schenning will discuss traditional and self-publishing.

Here’s what Steve Berberich wrote after Craig talked to the Carroll County Chapter of MWA:

“Craig is a pragmatic, empathetic publisher who will listen to any and all proposals. He knows the business well and his mid-size progressive operation. He will discuss finances at each level of the industry and the formula he uses to break even on a submission. The company publishes about 42 books a year. Turn around is far quicker than with the big six publishers. If the book is accepted, editors work with authors to “fix” developmental issues. They determine acceptance by the amount of time that will take.

Again, Craig is a good speaker who will encourage your writers, not overwhelm them with the long odds in publishing.”

Bring all of your publishing questions to this month’s meeting!
