It’s NaNoWriMo Time!

November is National Novel Writing Month, also known as NaNoWriMo.

This is a free program that encourages/helps/guides/pushes you to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. Sounds daunting maybe, but it is tons of fun. Several of our members are participating in the NaNoWriMo project. If you want to learn more head over to the NaNoWriMo page.

Also, the St. Mary’s County Library is participating in the NaNoWriMo project this year. On October 28th they are having a kickoff event from 10am to 4pm. Check here for more information!

Bad weather postponed our February gathering so we will try again in March! The book group will meet on March 23 at 6:00 at El Dorado in La Plata to discuss The Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan. Come for the discussion or come for the margaritas. Either way you’ll have a good time!

MWA Charles County Chapter Book Group

thechildrenactMost serious writers are also avid readers, so consider joining our chapter’s book group. The next meeting is Wednesday, October 22, at 5:30. We’ll meet at Thai Flavor in Waldorf and discuss The Children Act by Ian McEwan. McEwan is widely considered one of the best authors in the English language and his latest book is touted by critics. If you haven’t read the book, come anyway to hear the discussion.
