The Maryland Writers’ Association (MWA) is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the art, business, and craft of writing.
Check out our upcoming meetings. Writers and would-be writers are welcome to join.
It’s our 30th anniversary and we are in the news!
Come check out an article written about a Notable Maryland Author and an opinion piece on the Maryland Writers Association 30th Anniversary.
The MD Independent’s MWA 30th Anniversary article originated with the Charles County MWA Chapter and has been adopted statewide. The Independent is one of 8 papers statewide running the articles.
I hope you will respond to the writers’ prompt yourself: Using only 100 words, write part of a romance novel. Make sure to include two character names, how the met, why they met, and a sealed manila envelope.
Submit response to: www.mwawritersroundtable.org/submit-fun-with-words.html.
The Independent will publish one or two submissions along with next month’s Notable Maryland Author article.
I hope you will make a special effort to attend our next MWA chapter meeting in Charles County. It will be on Wednesday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal on Charles Street in La Plata. This meeting will be our 30th Anniversary celebration. The mayor will present a proclamation and we will cut a cake and have a champagne toast. The Independent will cover the event so come and meet the mayor and get in the picture. Finally, we will also do what writers do; write. Part of the meeting will be spending 6 minutes writing to a very specific writers’ prompt and then reading the results to each other. It’s a blast.
